MAGNESIUM ASCORBYL PHOSPHATE

Ascorbic acid has several documented physiological and pharmacological effects on the skin. Ascorbic acid acts as an inhibitor of melanin formation and also plays a role in collagen formation. Unfortunately, ascorbic acid cannot be applied to any cosmetic product because of its poor stability. Therefore, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, (MAP) has been developed for cosmetic products. MAP is a water soluble vitamin C derivative, which is stable in aqueous solution, and can be easily formulated in skin care products. MAP is a phosphate ester, therefore, it is easily hydrolyzed to ascorbic acid in the skin by enzymes (phosphatase), and it shows physiological and pharmacological activities.

Appearance : White to yellowish white, granule or powder, no odor or slight characteristic odor.
pH: 7.0 - 8.5 (3w/v% in water)
Solubility in Water: Colorless or yellowish transparent liquid
Chloride: 0.35% max.
Heavy Metals: 20ppm max.
Arsenic: 2ppm max.
Free Ascorbic Acid: 0.5% max.
Free Phosphoric Acid: 1% max.
Other Ascorbate Derivatives: 3.5% max.
Water: 29% max.
Assay: 95.0% min. (as anhydrous)
APPLICATIONS:
MAP has been widely used in various cosmetics and quasi-drugs because of its advantageous properties such as inhibitory effects on melanogenesis, promotion of collagen synthesis, and prevention of lipid peroxidation. Applying MAP to cosmetics and quasi-drugs are important factors in preventing dry skin, sunburn, chloasma and ephelides, and in keeping the skin healthy and young.
USES:
Cream, milky lotion, essence, face mask, foundation, sun screen, skin lightening products.
CONCENTRATIONS USED: 0.1% - 5.0%
